Construction Update
Our Architect has provided a fly-through of the new Library. The furnishings will be different, but it gives you an idea of the space. Enjoy!
Holidays are a great time to rest, recharge and spend time with family and friends. Coming up with activities to keep the family entertained can at times be expensive and challenging. Why not spend some time during the upcoming Easter break to dust off your Board Games and have a family night at home?
Board games are a fantastic way for children to develop important skills in a fun and engaging way. Not only are they a great way to spend time with family and friends, but they also have tremendous educational benefits. Here are some of the ways that board games can help children develop:
1. Problem-solving: Board games can help children learn how to think critically and come up with solutions to problems. As they play, children are exposed to a variety of different problems that require creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
2. Concentration and focus: Board games require children to focus for long periods of time in order to complete the game. This helps them learn to concentrate and focus, as well as to pay attention to detail.
3. Teamwork and collaboration: Board games are a great way for children to learn how to work together as a team. As they play, they learn how to work together to reach a common goal and can develop valuable collaboration skills.
4. Social skills: Board games can also help children develop their social skills. As they play, they learn to interact with different people and develop important communication skills.
Tonight, Michelle Mitchell is hosting an online webinar aimed at young people and how they can stay happy and stay safe online. The webinar is at 6pm and is talking about what to do if you come across anything rude, scary or nasty, why parents sometimes say 'no' and the tricks companies use to make kids spend more time and money online. Thank you to Adopt a Cowboy for his visit to our school this week. Valentine Holmes worked with Year 5A and 5D in a team challenge. The focus was on our SPIRIT Way and the Cowboys Way. Each team was challenged to work with their teammates to have respectful relationships and show persistence...give a 110%. Thank you Val for your continued support to our school.
Have a wonderful Easter break, stay safe and looking forward to Term 2 already.
Happy Days,
Paul Martin
We were created to love. That’s what Jesus says and that’s what the gospel says in this week’s reading - ‘The Raising of Lazarus’ (John 11:1-45). This story is the greatest sign of Jesus’ public ministry recorded. Jesus travels a full day’s journey to the place where Lazarus lays and calls him out of the tomb, where he comes out still wrapped in cloths with the face cloth around his head. This was the sign that many then came to ‘believe in Him’. God knows our struggles and our fears and has the power to unbind us if we believe in Him as the resurrection and the life.
This week at Holy Spirit we value justice. Justice, as we all know, is all about fairness for ourselves and for others. We should always be looking for ways in which we are called to be people for others, especially when we see something that isn’t fair and we can help in some way. During Lent, we are especially called to help those in need with the essentials required for a decent life (food, clothing and shelter). Our donations to Project Compassion this year is a great way to help those in need. We encourage all our families to buy their book of tickets for our Project Compassion Easter Raffle. By supporting this, we are doing our part to care for those who are poor.
Project Compassion Easter Raffle: A book of tickets has been sent home with the eldest in the family to raise funds for Project Compassion. This year, there are 6 prizes in total with our bigger prizes being for first, second and third. Additional tickets are available in our Office at the Front Reception. You can also see the prizes on display behind reception. The raffle will be drawn at our Easter Liturgy next Wednesday morning.
Good luck everyone and thank you for your generosity in supporting Project Compassion where little donations go a long way helping those in need.
PROJECT COMPASSION BOXES: Boxes can be returned to the Office at the end of this term. Thank you in advance to all those families who put aside a little from home to support PC23. For more information about CARITAS and its work go to www.caritas.org.au
God bless.

Our Adopt-a-Cowboy, Valentine Holmes joined Grade 5 in a team challenge today. We were focussing on respect for each other, persistence and some resilience when things didn't quite go as planned. Val inspired us to work as a team. Thanks for taking time out for us Val.

In this edition of SchoolTV - ANXIETY
Most young people today experience anxiety at some point in their life. Sometimes that slight rush of anxiety that occurs prior to an exam or sporting event, can enhance their performance. However, experiencing too much anxiety, over long periods of time, can be extremely damaging to their health and wellbeing. There is a difference between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ anxiety.
Statistics show, that the psychological health of young people today is far worse than it was a generation ago. This is having an adverse affect on children in both primary and secondary levels. Some of their issues of concern include stress, school, study, body image and friendship.
Parents need to be aware of the warning signs of ‘bad’ anxiety. There are preventative measures parents can implement as well as teaching kids the skills to cope more efficiently with their anxiety.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact your child’s classroom teacher for further information or seek medical or professional help.
