Happy Easter and welcome to Term 2! It is easy to think that Easter has come and gone just like Term One! The season of Easter actually lasts until Pentecost - which is traditionally the time our school celebrates it’s birthday!
This term is action packed with many significant events including the Opening and Blessing of our new buildings, the Holy Spirit Fete, our Athletics’ Carnival- all before the end of May!
Today our students participated in an ANZAC Liturgy (time of prayer), tomorrow students in Years Three to Six will march as a sign of respect.
Our Defence Force members live a life of service. As Townsvillians, we are very aware of this role and the service that our city received during the flood. ANZAC Day is a significant reminder of those who make the sacrifice to serve.
God bless and happy Easter!

One of the Gospel stories told at this time is the story of the two disciples who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus after his death and Resurrection. They were telling others what had happened when Jesus suddenly appeared among them. Jesus reassured them telling them not to be afraid, and convinced them he was real and alive, despite his wounds, by eating a piece of fish.
Jesus told his disciples to go out and tell the world that he had died and risen to new life. They were to be his witnesses to all that had happened. As members of the Christian family we are called to follow Christ and be witness for him every day of our lives by living God’s way.
As we begin a new term, this week at Holy Spirit we value joyfulness. We are an Easter people, a people marked by joyfulness. Jesus is raised. His resurrection means our salvation. How could a person not be filled with joy over such wonderful news?
While Easter happens on one Sunday of the year, we are called to be Easter people all of the time: in Lent and Easter, Advent and Christmas, and Ordinary Time too. Every day is a day to be joyful! Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. As we begin a new term, let us all take the time to pray for thanks for the joy in our lives.
Household Items needed by Vinnies
Vinnies is in need of good quality beds/mattresses, lounges/D/Tables and chairs. They would like to help people refurnish their homes to a very good standard.
Calls to their Helpline have increased in recent times. If you are able to assist them in this very important area of their work, even a few hours a week would be much appreciated. The Helpline operates from 8.30am to 12.30pm. Please ring Vinnies on 47714077 if you are able to assist.
God bless.

Well done to all our students who participated in our annual Fun Run. A big thank you to all those who assisted in any way or came along to cheer on the students.
Once again, one of the P and F fundraisers is the 2019/20 Entertainment Book. This year, no hard copies will be sent home. Families are asked to use the following link to purchase a digital or hard copy of the Book. Books can still be collected from the school after you have purchased them online. The P and F thank everyone in advance for supporting this fundraiser.
