The Parents and Friends' Association are supporting the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal, families are invited to donate a gift to brighten someone's Christmas.
This Thursday will see the annual Carols by Torchlight continue but on a different night. Santa will arrive at 6pm for Carols to begin at 6.30pm. It is a great family event and would love to see you there. It will be held outside the new OSHC building on the small oval. Warm up the tonsils as it is time to sing.
Next week is the Rite of Passage and awards night. This is a night to celebrate our achievements and to send our Year 6 students on their next adventure in their academic career. Students in the Year 4 and 5 choir have been invited to be part of the proceedings. A note was sent home from Mrs Laing about this. Parents of Year 4 and 5 award winners will be notified this week. It is a wonderful occasion and all are welcome to attend.
Preparations are underway for 2019 – our 50 Year anniversary. You can access booklists on our website which is linked here.

‘EMOTIONAL UMBRELLA’ HELPS KIDS WEATHER LIFE’S STORMS
How parents respond to stressful life events has a powerful impact on children.
You can help your child develop emotional resilience to cope with life’s ups and downs and emergencies, says Professor Matt Sanders from the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program.
Knowing how to manage strong emotions, cope with stress, problem-solve and keep a positive attitude can be an emotional umbrella to help weather life’s storms.
“Children look to the adults in their life for cues on how to respond to difficult situations,” says Professor Sanders.
“The good news is resilience is a life skill that can be taught.”

When kids don't play by the family
rules any more

Many young teens like to distance themselves from their families. Not quite teenagers in the real sense of the term and no longer children, they are stuck in the middle of two stages. It can be a struggle for many parents.
Teenagers need to be cut some latitude and not be expected to do the same things as they did when kids. As parents we need to make some adjustments.
