How many times have you heard “Is the glass half full?” At this time last term, teachers, students and parents were facing many unknowns.  What would Term 2 look like? Will we be safe? When will life return to normal?

In this final week of term, when Semester One reports become available, parents and teachers together will be best placed to identify the areas of growth. The teachers will comment on student progress in Religious Education, Maths, English and organisational skills. Parents too, will be able to identify growth in organisational skills and perhaps more than in past years - independence and even cooking skills!

This week a prep student proudly told me, “I saw nana’s car before the teacher called my name.” This young man also walked safely to the car without teacher assistance. This can’t be measured, or included in a school report, however, this child has grown in confidence and can identify his car in a line of similar vehicles.

When you read your child’s report look at what your child can do. The end of semester report will identify some areas of growth and success but there are many ways to see the glass half full!

While some regulations for Covid-19 are lifting, many will continue to be in place for Term 3. Thank you for your support and cooperation throughout this term. I wish you and your family the best for the next two weeks and hope life is a little more settled than it was at this point in time in Term 1.
