Defence Families Australia – Webinars: The first five years as an ADF partner
Over the month of March, DFA is hosting a series of webinars about the first five years as an ADF partner. We’ve asked the Deputy Service Chiefs to talk about what to expect from a Services perspective such as how much the member will be away and in what locations. Defence Community Organisation (DCO) and the Chaplains will share top tips for keeping a relationship strong in these circumstances.
Some of the topics covered include:
What to expect
Relationships
Training expectations
Where to go if you need help
Communication with the ADF
Communication with your partner
The RAAF specific webinar has already taken place and the recording will soon be available on the DFA website.

Australian Military Wives Choir
Were you lucky enough to see the special screening of the movie Military Wives this week? Based on the true story of military wives in the UK who formed a choir whilst their husbands were deployed, it is definitely a must see. It embodied the motto of our very own Australian Military Wives Choir; “stronger together”. It was wonderful to hear our local choir perform before the movie and we all enjoyed a sing along with them.
The AMW Choir is for female voices with a connection to a currently serving Australian Defence Force member or a foreign defence force member stationed in Australia. We welcome wives, partners, girlfriends, mothers, daughters, sisters and female ADF members. There are no auditions and you don’t need any previous experience - just a love of singing
If you would like to know more, there is will be a “come & try” night at Geckos next Thursday 19 March. Why not come and join in the fun. For more info email the Coordinator, Claudia at townsville@amwchoir.com
