Principal's Corner
Since the first reports of the Coronavirus now known as Covid-19, there has been continuous news reports and information from health experts to keep us informed.
Our school receives valuable and current updates from the Queensland Catholic Education Commission and our Townsville Catholic Education Office so that we can be pro-active as we experience these unchartered waters.
It is a concerning time for many and with a combined response from the school, parents and carers, together we can do our best to take preventative action for the benefit of the children and adults in our community.
At a school level we have:
- increased the number of hours of cleaning staff
- provided classrooms with tissues and antibacterial hand wash - a long time practice
- reminded students of good hygiene practices e.g. washing hands with soap and water.
Parents and carers can assist by:
- reminding children of good hygiene practices
- keeping children home when they are sick.
It is important that we all keep routines normal for children and avoid creating anxiety by dwelling on the topic of Covid-19.
Should children become concerned we need to remind them that they are healthy. This might just be the opportunity to encourage children to eat more veggies and fruit or is that just wishful thinking?
Thank you to all parents and caregivers who have taken time to attend the parent teacher interviews. These meetings are valuable for sharing important information and developing school parent partnerships.
