Principal's Corner

Principal's Photo 2018

On Monday evening the Holy Spirit CAFE and School Board gathered for their annual combined meeting. This very small group of parents achieve some wonderful accomplishments. As the 2019 school year draws to a close, it is timely to share some of their 2019 achievements.

Over the past four years, Holy Spirit School Board members have been the parent voice advocating for our new general learning areas (classrooms). Board members have attended meetings and created persuasive videos to ensure representatives from the Queensland Catholic Education Commission understood the needs of our school community. Their effort has been rewarded by the completion of twelve new classrooms and a refurbished block with an additional Music Room finalised by 2020.

The Board reviewed the school Mission Statement. Board members reflected on the values which are central to our school community. The School Mission Statement:  "Inspired by gospel values and strengthened by the Holy Spirit, we nurture a love of learning, respect and service in an environment of generosity", is now a visual reminder in our school office.

The policy for the Use of School Facilities is currently under review and will be one of the School Board's tasks for 2020.

Our Holy Spirit CAFE members have been instrumental in providing facilities for our students such as the Urban Warrior playground and the recently installed Prep Climbing Wall.

Events such as the Holy Spirit Fete, The Mother's Day and Father's Day Stall along with the successful events such as Holy Spirit Under the Stars Concert and the Colour Me Crazy Run are well supported by our CAFE members.

On occasion, we are asked what do these groups do? The answer is, "they continue to search for ways to build our school community and improve the facilities for our students".

May God bless them in abundance for their wonderful support and commitment.

Orientation

On Monday, we welcomed the 2020 Preps. While there are a few anxious faces, children and parents alike, generally, it is wonderful to see these four and five year olds armed with confidence and enthusiasm.

When asked by a parent how was the visit our future preppie responded with 'Better than cake!', yes he had a great time.
