MWD(U) Information Sessions
ADF families in Townsville, you are invited to join us for one of two MWD(U) information sessions. We are co-hosting these along with Headquarters 3 Bde for Townsville ADF members and their partners posting, or considering posting as a member with dependants (unaccompanied), or MWD(U). Each session will look at the opportunities and challenges of MWD(U), common issues and experiences, and the support and resources available to members and their families in their respective locations. Partners are strongly encouraged to attend.
Where: Geckos Family Centre, Lavarack Barracks
When: Monday 28 October Session 1: 1.30 – 2.30pm
Session 2: 6.00 – 7.00pm
No registrations are required for these events - just head along to the session that best suits your schedule.
Mates4Mates – Who can access and what services do they provide
Current or ex-serving members of the Army, Air Force or Navy who have experienced a physical injury or mental health issue
As a direct result of their service can access services from Mates4Mates to assist with recovery. Immediate family members
Can also access a wide range of support services.
The services we provide are:
- Physical Rehabilitation,
- Psychological Services,
- Social Connection Activities,
- (RAC) Rehabilitation Adventure Challenges, and,
- Employment and Education Support Services.

Trivia Night – Thursday 31 October
ADF members and their partners are invited to join us for an evening of fun, food and trivia as we head to the Townsville RSL Club. Join us from 5:00pm for a meal, before registering at 6:00pm for a trivia team. Register your own team or join another and get to know some new people. Trivia is free of charge but you must be a member of the RSL, this is a $5 fee per family. This event is a self-funded activity with attendees purchasing their own food and drinks. This is a child free activity.
The (almost) Amazing Race is back
Same fantastic venue but brand new clues and challenges
ADF members and families are invited to join us for our version of the Amazing Race. Jog, walk or sprint your way through a series of checkpoints and challenges in a race against the clock to find the most clues. Enter a team (2-5 people), test your skill and have some fun. We will be looking for the most original team name and the best dressed team. The event is suitable for everyone from families with prams through to teens, couples and single members. Sausage sizzle provided. We’ll be doing a free sausage sizzle with refreshments provided.
