APRE News

In this week’s Gospel reading, there was a judge who was often unjust and unfair who was asked by a widow to help her settle a quarrel with her neighbour.  The judge was not interested and each time she came sent her away.  But the woman kept pestering the judge, determined that he would hear her request, listen carefully to what she wanted and help her resolve the quarrel.  Often when students are angry, they find it difficult to resolve their quarrels peacefully.  An important strategy at Holy Spirit, is to bring the students together to listen to each other and talk through their differences and resolve the matter to the satisfaction of everyone.

This week at Holy Spirit we value reliability.  Reliability is the quality of being trustworthy and being consistently good.  The benefits of being reliable are that people trust you and feel they can count on you.  People inherently value reliability.  Every day we place enormous value on things such as reliable internet connectivity, mobile phone service, planes taking off on time, our cars getting us from A to B and our family, friends and family doing what they say they will do.  When these things are reliable, they not only afford us greater efficiency and peace of mind but also help us forge stronger relationships and deliver greater results.  This week we pray that our students at Holy Spirit be reliable people who can be counted on and trusted.

Next Friday our Mini Fete will be held.  In the month of October, we as a Catholic Church in Australia focus on supporting missions throughout the world.  In our school community we will raise funds to support the Missions with our MINI FETE.  Children are encouraged to bring a small amount of money to participate, have fun and support the Missions.  Class teachers are organising stalls.  If you are able to assist, contact your child’s teachers.

Well done to our Year 6 students who participated in the Vinnies Sleepout on Friday night.  Thank you to all our families who made a donation of linen, towels or pillows that will go to people in need in our community.    The students participated in a number of activities that raised awareness on the plight of the homeless.

God bless.
