ABC Indigenous Language Song Competition
It is with great joy to announce that Holy Spirit Catholic School is one of the winners of the ABC Indigenous Language Song Competition! Congratulations to everyone involved! The judges loved the involvement, enthusiasm, effort and creativity of all the students! The school had to translate a song and sing it in the first language of this area. Our brilliant Music teachers taught all students our song during lessons and it was then videoed/produced by Trish Lonergan. More than 1400 students took part in the competition last year, as it is a great way to help preserve first languages. The immersion of Language in our school has been inspired by a presentation by Melinda Holden, (Amy Jacobsen’s 6D grandmother) who played a pivotal role in a Pilot Indigenous Language program.
