This week we will hold our annual Mini Fete. The Mini Fete is organised by teachers and students and funds raised will support Catholic Mission.

It has long been a tradition of catholic schools to support Catholic Mission. Some parents or grandparents may remember the little mission boxes from their school days when we were encouraged to support children in faraway countries - not so faraway these days!

This year, students across Australia are not only asked to fundraise but also encouraged to learn how the Church in Ghana is taking a lead in providing life-saving care to children with disability and fostering their personal development for a brighter future.   

Later this week, we also celebrate All Saints' Day - a holy day of the Catholic Church, celebrated annually on November 1. Interestingly, you will probably hear more about Halloween rather than the 'good works' of many saints.

Pope Francis calls upon us, as the 'Communion of Saints' (a communion of holy ones, living and dead), to do good works such as support the poor. It is timely this year that our Mini Fete falls on All Saints’ Day, the day after Halloween. Over the past few weeks (perhaps longer), Halloween costumes, pumpkins, lollies and chocolates have appeared in increasing numbers throughout supermarkets and other stores. This year your family might like to consider the saintly actions of 'giving to others' through the Mini Fete rather than 'getting' which can be the focus of Halloween.

Thank you to all who have volunteered to assist class teachers and students. Parents are welcome to attend, the fun begins at 1.10 pm!
