Fairplay Vouchers

Tennis

Round 1 of FairPlay vouchers is opens

Previously Get Started Vouchers. There have been a few changes to the voucher program with the release of Queensland Government's new sport and active recreation strategy - Activate! Queensland 2019-2029.

Activate! Queensland is the new strategy to ensure physical activity can be prioritised in the lives of all Queenslanders, providing quality infrastructure and increasing opportunities to participate and collaborate in local communities where it is needed most.

Over the next 10 years, Activate! Queensland will assist individuals and communities to address the barriers that prevent or limit participation. The strategy aims to achieve lifelong participation through improving physical literacy in the early years and promoting more opportunities to be physically active within communities.

FairPlay vouchers is one of the initiatives of Activate! Queensland. FairPlay replaces the program formerly known as Get Started Vouchers.

Round 1 of FairPlay vouchers opened on Wednesday 31 July 2019.

What is the program about?
Parents, carers or guardians can apply for a voucher valued up to $150 for their child or young person, which can be used towards membership, registration or participation fees with registered Activity Providers which Tennis Townsville is one.

There is a limit of one voucher per child/young person per calendar year. If a child received a voucher in Round 13 of Get Started Vouchers (February 2019) they will not be eligible for another voucher until Round 2 of FairPlay vouchers in January 2020.

Who is eligible to apply?
Eligible applicants are Queensland children and young people aged 5 to 17 (inclusive) who either:

  • hold or whose parent/carer/guardian holds a valid Department of Human Services Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with the child’s name on it; or
  • are identified by a registered referral agent; or
  • as part of a limited trial, families with a combined household annual income of less than $55,000, who do not hold a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, can register an expression of interest for a FairPlay voucher from 31 July 2019.

What has changed?
Clubs are now being referred to as 'Activity Providers' as the eligibility has opened up to not-for-profit community organisations, like Tennis a Townsville, who provide structured physical activity as part of their programs. This means that the club locator will now be referred to as the Activity Provider directory AYou may also want to ‘like’ the Queensland Sport and Recreation Facebook page
