Principal's Corner
Throughout the past term, we have seen some impressive accomplishments of our students.
Recently, our students received their NAPLAN results which indicate a child’s performance across a small window of time. NAPLAN results do provide valuable information to assist our teachers to plan and teach according to student needs. However, there are other ways to assess student achievement across a variety of domains:
- Many of our students were successful in the Writing Section of the Townsville Eisteddfod,
- Our prep students led their first assembly and displayed their confidence when speaking in front of a gathering of several hundred, something which would be daunting for many adults!
- Across a variety of sports, a number of students participated at an elite level and
- Our students in 4B introduced the ‘Lids for Kids Project’. See below to see how their recycling project will support children needing prosthetics.
I hope you find the time during the holidays to reflect on your child’s learning and development over the past 10 weeks. Perhaps their reading is more fluent, they might have mastered division or become an accomplished line dancer as we saw at our Holy Spirit Under the Stars Concert and again at our Grandparents’ event. If we take the time to look there are many indicators that children are learning.
We are looking forward to ‘Colour Me Crazy’, the next celebration in this our 50th year. I hope you will be able to join us for mass and our ‘colourful’ event on Sunday, 13 October.
