What a wonderful time of year to be in Townsville, perfect weather and a plethora of free activities such as Strand Ephemera, Halo and concerts!

This week, we celebrate Catholic Education Week. Catholic education, challenges students through the message of Jesus to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, members of society who are not only highly skilled but compassionate with a strong sense of social justice.

Catholic schools seek to provide high quality education and to make a difference in the lives of individuals and in the wider community.

Our school recognises the significant input of parents, and as such, we aim to support our students as stated in our School Mission Statement: Inspired by Gospel Values and strengthened by the Holy Spirit, we nurture a love of learning, respect and service in an environment of generosity. At the Catholic Education Week Mass on Monday, past student, Connor Whiteside (Year 12, IPC), received the Deus Caritas Est Award. The award recognises outstanding secondary students who, by words and actions, show a love for God, others and self.  While there are many influences in Connor's life it is wonderful to see his success and claim him as a past student, congratulations Connor!

During our Catholic Education Week Liturgy today, we recognised the following staff and community members for their contribution to our school community.

Kirsten Logan, Amber Church, Ann Wuth, Sue Laing, Maureen Crimeen, Mary Kerrisk, Rose McSherry, Lucy Johnston and Fr John.

Our 50 Year Anniversary celebrations also take place this week with a roll call at 3 pm on Saturday afternoon, the opening of the time capsule and the evening celebration of Holy Spirit Under the Stars!   I hope you are able to attend all or some of the celebrations!

Connor Whiteside

God Bless,

Geraldine
