Principal's Corner
Welcome back to Term 3! If you have entered our school grounds this week, you will notice that the Year 5 and Year 6 classroom block has been demolished to make way for the new classrooms. This is the final phase of the Master Plan for new classrooms.
It is fairly typical, to look to the past with nostalgia. In this week as people reminisce about their whereabouts at the time of the moon landing and marvel at such an accomplishment, the majority of our school community weren’t even born!
I have spoken and written often of the great generosity of the Lynch family who donated the land for our school. I doubt the term ‘pay it forward’ existed in 1969 and yet the Lynch family’s contribution has perhaps had greater impact for our students and their families than the moon landing.
Neil Armstrong’s famous quote ‘one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’ while not having the political correctness half a century later, does resonate with the leap forward for our school and the many students, staff and parents who have continued to ‘pay it forward’.
The twenty-nine students and their families who commenced in 1969 would notice quite a transformation of our school from such humble beginnings.
As we take off for the next 50 years, I don’t know how many students will be inspired to be astronauts, but I do know the generosity of our school community will continue to be paid forward.
