Defence
Hello to all,
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. Term 4 is a very busy term at the school. We have Remembrance Day coming up on the 11th November and the year 6 camp also starts on this same day.
Draw to Remember
This year for the first time at this school the year 6's are participating in the RSL "Draw to Remember" program. Since 2022 the RSL has been joining in with primary school children in a creative learning experience while reflecting on the significance of Remembrance Day by participating in "Draw to Remember".
On Tuesday 14th October we kindly had Scott Klima from the RSL come into the school and talk to the Year 6's about the importance of Remembrance Day and what exactly "Draw to Remember" is about.
The students are then given a few weeks to think about what they would like to drawer in chalk.
They will then draw their artwork on 03/11/25 on footpaths around the school.
Defence Club
Defence Club has started again for this Term. It is being held on Mondays at Morning Tea for years 1 - 3 and on Wednesdays for years 4 - 6 in the McAuley Room under Bibi Goo (unless specified). Students are welcome to bring a friend to all activities. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
Friday Coffee Catch Ups
My name is Bec & I’ve been a Defence spouse for 12 years. During this time I have learned the best way to enjoy each posting is to get out and find my “tribe” as early as possible. Having experienced postings both with & without kids, I know the challenges of meeting new people from both perspectives.
When I knew we were coming to Townsville I joined the community groups (as we all do) and started scoping out ways I could get out to meet new people (and catch up with ones I’ve met at previous postings). I found that there wasn’t a regular coffee group, so created my own.
Creating this regular catch up gives not only myself, but anyone else who comes along the opportunity to socialise with other spouses in a relaxed setting. There are regulars who come weekly, and I have found these women to be some of the most supportive people (and knowledgeable about Defence life).
I post the location on the Townsville Defence Partners Facebook page every week. Look out for the coffee cups, everyone is welcome so come along and meet some amazing people!
