Recently, we had the pleasure of a visit from Janelle Poole, Qld parliamentarian for Community, Safety, Defence Industry and NQ. Janelle reached out to visit our school and to have a tour with our school leaders. She was very impressed with the depth of knowledge our school leaders had about our school history, its infrastructure and the passion they displayed in celebrating the life of the school. If these leaders are our future, we are in good hands.
In term 3, Holy Spirit will be trialling a new format for parent interviews. These will be held over 2 nights in week 8 and all staff will be on hand to discuss student progress. This is another opportunity for parents to be engaged in the life of the school and be part of their child's education.
Recently, I met with a group of parents to discuss ways to engage our families for the positive outcome of student learning and not just 'events'. There were some fantastic conversations and some feedback was provided on what we do well and what we can do better. I am always open to feedback on how we can create an environment of 2 way communication between families and classrooms and look forward to future meetings. From this meeting, we have since held some information sessions on Compass and Flexischools for parents to learn more. We are currently looking at our communication lines so as to inform families in multiple ways of upcoming opportunities. Stay tuned.
Finally, what a term we have had. Our first week of this term started with ANZAC Day, pupil free days, student discos and cross country. As we moved into the middle part of the term, we celebrated class masses, recognised Reconciliation Week, celebrated Pentecost and our feast day, Holy Spirit Day. The walk along the river was superb and the fundraising outstanding (thank you all for your generosity). More recently, our Athletics carnival, First Nations meetings, Board and P&F Meetings, Catholic Identity advisory team discussions and the many learning opportunities happening in the classroom and across the playgrounds.
Rest up and stay safe these holidays as we go again on July 14 for another action packed term at Holy Spirit Catholic School.
Strength in the Spirit
