Principal's Corner
In recent weeks, our school community has been hit with the sad news of some past staff passing away. Gerri Perriman and Lorraine Cali, great mates and within a week of each other passed as our term finished and holidays began. These two ladies play a huge part in our school community as they taught in our school for up to 30 years. Not only did they teach in our school but their children and grandchildren also attended as students. We keep these families in our prayers at this difficult time.
Then, as our term begins, we hear of the passing of Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church. Pope Francis was such a humble man who wept with those mistreated, pleaded their cause and preached a Gospel of joy. He faced all things that make for gloom, did what he could to change this and remained full of hop. As a Catholic educator, he demonstrated numerous times the teachings of Jesus and his welcome of young people - Matthew 19:14 "Let the children come to me". We continue to pray for Pope Francis and the Catholic Church as they begin to follow their process of electing our new Pope. May he rest in peace.
Thank you to all the families that were able to complete the 'Enhancing Catholic School Identity' surveys - ECSI. We were given the target of 60 parents and we exceeded these by a considerable margin. This data will be shared with the school Leadership Team later this year as we plan for what our school looks like as a Catholic school in the future. As an incentive to complete these surveys, parents were invited to print the certificate and place it in the box with the chance to win a $200 gift card. Well done to Nicole H (mum of Lincoln in Yr 1) as the winner of this prize.
