Principal's Corner

This week, we celebrate Catholic Education Week. This year's theme is Communities of Faith, Hope and Love. We celebrate our own diocese and in particular, our Holy Spirit Catholic School community that you are part of. Firstly, thank you for choosing a catholic Education for your child/ren. This week, we remind ourselves that Jesus Christ is where we centre our mission and purpose. Last week at the Sunday Mass, Father Joshy read from the Gospel of Mark. He reminded us that Jesus summoned the Apostles to go out into the world to be of service in his name. So too, are we called to be servants of Faith, Hope and Love in Jesus' name. This is our call in Catholic Education for our families. In the classrooms, we will be discussing what a community of faith, hope and love looks like in the eyes of our students.

We also want to congratulate Maureen Crimeen, Sue Laing and Greg Searle for their 'Spirit of Catholic Education nomination. Maureen was in attendance at a special liturgy on Monday afternoon with the Bishop. Greg and Sue are currently on family travels throughout Australia and Norway. We thank these people for their service to our school community.

Last Friday, families would have received an email from the Townsville catholic Education office with a link to a survey. This survey is seeking feedback on how we can continue to improve our Catholic schools, including Holy Spirit. I encourage you to complete this survey as we do value your input to continue future planning for our school.
Finally, thank you to the many families who contributed to our NAIDOC celebrations last week. From assisting on the day to the parent advisory committee that meets each term, you continue to advise us on how we can enact our 'Reconciliation Action Plan' for a better future.
