From the Principal's Chair

Wow! What a start to Term 3. Not only have we started well into our learning but we have had Mulkadee last week for our Year 4, 5 and 6's, we celebrate Catholic Education Week this week and some of our students are representing Holy Spirit Catholic School at the Challenge Games.
Mulkadee was an event to remember. Holy Spirit had over 50 students participating in workshops in the Arts all week which culminated in the Peter Pan concert on friday night; and what a show it was. Outstanding work from our catholic schools but especially our Spirit students. Thank you to Mrs Laing, Mrs Crimeen and with assistance from Ms Yearwood and Ms Evans. Without supportive staff, events like this do not happen. Thank you to the many families involved. I keep hearing great things from the students all week.
Yesterday, I had the privilege to attend the Catholic Education Week mass at the Cathedral with our school captains and some students involved in the choir for the Mass. This year, we celebrate 150 years of Catholic Education in the Townsville Diocese and we have all played a part in this story. During the Mass, Bishop Tim reminded us of our call to take the story of Jesus; the message of faith, hope and love and take it to our communities and beyond. This is a timely reminder that we can make a positive difference with Jesus in our hearts. Happy Catholic Education Week.
Today and tomorrow, students from across the North will compete in the Challenge Games; a carnival for students with a disability. This year we have over 40 students who will represent Holy Spirit Catholic School and I know they will do us proud. I cannot wait to hear their stories of success. Having been part of the organising committee for the last 18 years, it is 2 days to fill your hearts with joy. If you want to see gratitude in action, come on down to the Challenge Games
