Anzac Day

Townsville City Council, ANZAC Day 2023

Townsville City Council presents official ANZAC Day Commemorations in partnership with the Townsville RSL and Thuringowa RSL Sub-Branches.

ANZAC Day is observed nationally as a solemn day of remembrance held on the anniversary of the landing of the First Australian Imperial Force and New Zealand Army troops, at Gallipoli in 1915. Tuesday 25 April is set aside to remember all Australian and New Zealand service men and women who have served their country and to pay respect to those who lost their lives in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

FamilySMART: 4 Week Absence Program, beginning Wednesday 3 May

ADF members and/or partners are invited to attend our four week  

FamilySMART Managing Absence Workshop. Join us for four relaxed sessions  

where we will chat about ideas and techniques to help you manage the  

challenges of absence, whether that be related to deployment, courses or  

exercises.  

FamilySMART programs are designed to help participants identify and build on  

their strengths, learn techniques to cope with the challenges of military life, and  

become more resilient, self-reliant and proactive. It is also a great opportunity  

to meet others and build a support network! 

This program runs over four consecutive Wednesday nights. If you have school  

aged children you can sign them up to the KidSMART program which will be  

run concurrently at Geckos. See below. 

Four Week Program Dates: 

Session 1: Wednesday 3 May 5:30pm-7:30pm 

Session 2: Wednesday 10 May 5:30pm-7:30pm 

Session 3: Wednesday 17 May 5:30pm-7:30pm 

Session 4: Wednesday 24 May 5:30pm-7:30pm

KidSMART: 4 Week Absence Program, beginning Wednesday 3 May

Primary school aged children of current serving ADF members are invited to
attend the KidSMART Absence program.
This is a four week program where KidSMART mascot Tyler Turtle will help
children to learn new strategies to manage change, stay connected with
friends, meet new people, cope when feeling stressed or anxious, handle
emotions and learn relaxation techniques.
**This program will be facilitated in conjunction with the FamilySMART
program**
Four Week Program Dates:
Session 1: Wednesday 3 May 5:30pm-7:30pm
Session 2: Wednesday 10 May 5:30pm-7:30pm

Session 3: Wednesday 17 May 5:30pm-7:30pm
