Pray and Reflect this Advent

During Advent we wait in trust and prepare in hope to be surprised by joy at the celebration of coming of Christ.  You are invited to use our Townsville Diocesan Advent resource to reflect on these themes inspired by the prophet Isaiah, John the Baptist and Mary, the mother of Jesus.  It is available from your parish office or can be accessed via the link on our website as a PDF or PowerPoint presentation which includes a music sound file.

The Advent resource is suitable for use by individuals, families or group use.

Carols at The Cathedral

The 11th annual ‘Carols at the Cathedral’ will take place on Friday, the 14th of December starting at 7:00pm with a candlelight procession.

This beautiful event is based on the traditional ceremony of carols and readings telling the story of Christ’s coming into the world. Bishop Tim will give a short homily during the evening and a collection will be taken (this year’s collection goes to the drought appeal). The evening concludes with supper.

The Diocesan Choir made up of singers from all the Townsville parishes will lead the congregation’s singing of much-loved carols as well as presenting special choral pieces.
