Principal's Corner

Kath

I would like to congratulate our children who are working hard, each and every day, enjoying their learning and co-operating with others in our school environment. When many gather there is always interaction. There are many personalities that come together under the banner of Holy Spirit Catholic School. Each of these personalities is different, some are quiet, some are loud, some are sensitive, some are resilient, some are shy, some are confident, some are creative, all with different backgrounds and experience.

Everyone comes with their own attitude which impacts on their outlook. Children’s attitudes reflect what they have seen and experienced. That is why, as parents and teachers, our role in modelling desired behaviours is so important. The following extract speaks about the importance of our attitude. As you take the time to read these extracts, consider the attitude your child brings to each situation, whether it be a challenge, a success or a setback.

The longer I live the more I realise the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important that the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people say, think, or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past … we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have and that is our attitude.

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so, it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes”.

Validation

The Validation external panel spent the day at Holy Spirit last Tuesday. The panel met with the Leadership Team, staff, parents and students to hear about the wonderful things that happen in our school community and the direction we would like to take over the next five years. The Validation panel endorsed the intentions we have outlined, and I look forward to sharing our 2023 – 2027 plan with you once it has been finalised.

Best wishes

Kath
