In Sunday’s Gospel story from the Gospel of Mark, Jesus was watching people putting their money into a collection box as their offering in the temple, when he noticed a poor widow drop two small coins into the box.  This Gospel teaches us about giving and sharing, not how much but how we give it and what is in our hearts when we give it.  The old woman only gave a little but it was all she had so in reality she gave everything.  It is easy to share when we have plenty; it is much harder to give to others when we have very little ourselves.

This week at Holy Spirit we value gratitude.  An important aspect of gratitude is noticing the positive that exist around us.  When we show gratitude, we look for and show our thankfulness for the many things others do for us.  At this morning’s Thank You Liturgy, our students and staff showed gratitude by recognising and thanking all those people who regularly take time to offer their assistance at our school and events.  This week we pray that we notice good things, look for and appreciate them.
