APRE News

In Mark’s Gospel this Sunday, Jesus tells a rich young man what he must do to inherit APRE 1eternal life.  Jesus told him that he must know and obey the commandments and then must give away all his money and everything he owned.  Jesus wanted the young man to know that God measures our wealth by our goodness and whether we are generous or loving towards others.  As Christians, we are challenged to be shining witnesses of God’s love and mercy to all.  This week at Holy Spirit, we value courage.  Courage enables us to act in a brave way to go out of our way at times to help others.  This week we ask our students to think and act on ways that they can show their courage and that with God’s protection and guidance, they have nothing to fear and can conquer anything.

APRE 2

October is Missions Month.  The World Mission Month of October is a time when we can teach our children to respect people from other cultures and reach out to those people, particularly children who live in poverty.  It is an opportunity for reflection, prayer and support for the missionary efforts of individuals, communities and the whole Church.  This year, students across Australia are encouraged to learn about Thailand and the work of the Good Shepherd Sisters there, who through their Kindergarten Centre, are APRE 3bringing about generational change to some of the poorest communities in Bangkok.  It is a time to do something extraordinary for Mission through fundraising, advocacy and prayers.

When we look at the world at times, we can see that it is not very fair.  Some people have lots of food.  Some people don’t have enough.  Some people have clean water in their homes.  Some people have to walk a long way to collect water for their families.  Catholic Missions gives hope to communities so that real changes can be made for people in need around the world.  For more information please visit https://www.catholicmission.org.au/

Next Friday afternoon, our school will hold our Mini Fete where proceeds go to Missions.  Classes will be sending information to families in the coming days on their stalls and how you can help.  This is a great afternoon where we can all support a very worthy cause.  Thank you everyone in advance for assisting with our Mini Fete.

God bless.
