FROM THE APA

Our value recognised and taught this week is Courage. If we were to stop and take a couple of minutes, we would see this being lived in our students in families in our own community. We could read about the many people displaying courage through adversity. Yet, when we look into our own backyard, it is in abundance here at Holy Spirit Catholic School. From the little person that struggles in the morning to get themselves to school due to anxiety, to the special friend that stands up  for his or her mate. It can be the teacher that is not a huge fan of being in front of an audience at assembly, yet shows her students what courage looks like.  We need to celebrate in our own lives those successes of courage that we achieve as well. Stay Courageous!

Good luck to our own "Olympic" Athletics Team as they compete tomorrow in the B school Inter-school Athletics Carnival at the Red Track. Thank you to the many staff involved in this preparation. Our school is very lucky to have such committed staff to volunteer their time for this. Our students will stand on the starting line knowing that the whole school community supports their efforts. Go Spirit!

Next week is Book Week and many of the students are already preparing their costumes for the Book Week Parade on Wednesday at 8.45am in the Lynch Family Hall. It is wonderful to see such enthusiasm for their favourite book character and I am sometimes in awe of the skills parents display in  making such costumes. This is a tremendous opportunity for us to celebrate reading and have some fun with Book Week.

Next Monday, our own Spirit rugby league side take on Marian in the next stage of the Les Stagg Trophy. The team play at Brothers Rugby League fields on Monday night with the time yet to be confirmed. This is a fantastic chance for our school community to celebrate and cheer on the boys and girl in this long tradition of participating in this competition. Come on down and cheer on the team and stay for a meal afterwards, a great family night.
