Jesus says:  “I am the living bread.  And this bread comes to us by way of sacrifice. 

The bread which I will give is my flesh, given for the life of the world.”   In Sunday’s Gospel, the crowds approach Jesus asking how they can do the works of God.  Jesus impresses upon them that the food that will give them eternal life is their belief in God, the gift of Jesus which empowers them to do the work of God through their generosity and good works.  Each Sunday, we come together to listen to the Word of God in scripture and share the Eucharistic meal so we are strengthened and nourished to go out and do our best to live as God desires us to.  

This week at Holy Spirit we value excellence.    Having excellence means having high standards for yourself and having pride in what you do.  As you all know, this week is Catholic Education Week.  On Monday, our student leaders as well as 2 students who were altar servers, attended the Diocesan Mass presided by Bishop Tim.  This morning at our Catholic Education Week Liturgy, we acknowledged a number of people from our school community who give so much helping students in their endeavour to achieve excellence.  Happy Catholic Education Week everyone!
