Movie night invitation
This year the theme for National Reconciliation Week is 'More than a word: Reconciliation takes action'.
In the spirit of reconciliation we encourage you to join us for a special screening of the Mabo movie. Mabo tells the story of Eddie Koiki Mabo, the Torres Strait Islander who left school at 15, yet spearheaded the High Court challenge that overthrew the fiction of terra nullius (nobody's land). He spent much of his adult life with his wife and 10 children living in Townsville, including working as a gardener at JCU and co-founding the Townsville black community school - one of the first in Australia. His story is an important part of our local history.
