Principal's Corner

Principal's Photo 2018

Today we celebrated our Opening School Mass. The reason we open the school year with a mass is because the mass is central to our catholic beliefs and traditions. The mass is about remembering, sharing and giving thanks.

After the mass, our Student Council (Year 5 and Year 6 student representatives) were commissioned. During the commissioning, our traditional ritual of parents pinning the badge on their child occurs to remind us that in leadership, you need the support of family and community.

We wish these students well in their roles of school captains, house captains or class representatives. We also expect that every Year 6 student will be a leader and encourage each student to take the initiative and look for other forms of leadership during the year.

There is also the opportunity for parents to fulfil roles within the school. At Holy Spirit, we have the following parent groups: Holy Spirit School Board; CAFE (Community and Friends Engagement); CCCs (Class and Community Contacts); Indigenous Parents’ Reference Group and the Finance Committee.

We are always looking to increase our numbers at the CAFE meetings held on the first Monday of the month and the CCC meetings, held on the Friday morning following the CAFE meeting. These are a wonderful way for parents and carers to express ideas about improving our school community. I encourage you to come along and be involved in our school!

I hope your child has settled into the routine of the school year. Should you have a concern please email your child’s teacher or make an appointment to see them. Teachers cannot be guaranteed to offer quality listening time when an impromptu meeting occurs.

The CCC meeting will take place at 8.30 am this Friday, 5th February in Mercy Place in the hall. If you would like to know a little more please come along!

God bless,

Geraldine
