Last Friday night, thirty-five of our Year 6 students, who belong to Mini Vinnies attended our annual sleep-out. There was much excitement when the students arrived even with the prospect of spending the night sleeping on the floor. The students soon settled into activities designed to focus on the issue of homelessness. 

October is traditionally Mission Month, this means as Catholics, we support those in need.  The St. Vincent de Paul Sleep-Out is just one of our awareness raising and fundraising events. This Friday, we will hold the Mini Fete where students and staff members run stalls to fundraise for others.

In last Sunday's gospel, we read about the man whose sight was restored because of his faith in Jesus. Activities such as the Mini Fete and Sleep-out are a chance to focus on our spiritual blindness, that is our blindness to injustice and prejudice. 'I now understand how hard it is for homeless people to find a safe place to sleep', Bryce, 6C.

The enthusiasm of our students is a great example of putting faith into action - supporting others by sharing our wealth. All are welcome at the Mini Fete, I hope to see you there!
