This Sunday, we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints. In doing so, we remember not only those who have been proclaimed saints through the ages, but also our many brothers and sisters who, in a quiet and unassuming way, lived their Christian life in the fullness of faith and love. Surely among them are many of our relatives, friends and acquaintances.  If there is one thing typical of the saints, it is that they are genuinely happy.  They found the secret of authentic happiness, which lies deep within the soul and has its source in the love of God.  That is why we call the saints blessed. The Beatitudes are their path, their goal towards the homeland.  The Beatitudes are the way of life that the Lord teaches us, so that we can follow in his footsteps.  The Beatitudes are the image of Christ and consequently of each Christian.

This week at Holy Spirit we value hospitality which is about opening one’s home and heart to those who need a place to belong.  Hospitality is at the heart of many of the gospel stories.  Being kind, generous and welcoming to our friends, family and those we know is easy.  It takes courage to welcome or help the stranger by extending hospitality to those in need.  Our school community responded to the needs of those less fortunate through our two recent fundraisers.  We pray that our students continue to recognise the needs of others and be generous toward others, especially those who need help.

Monday, 2nd NOVEMBER is All Souls Day.  This is a Catholic Day of Remembrance which we celebrate the day after All Saints Day.  We remember and pray for friends and loved ones who have passed away.  The Feast of All Souls reminds us of our obligation to live holy lives so that our souls too, may one day be received into heaven.

To support Catholic Missions in 2020, our school has participated in two days where children were encouraged to donate a gold coin.  Just over $1300 was raised by our school which is a fantastic response by all families.  Thank you to everyone who participated in these events.

God bless.
