When asked which of the commandments was the greatest, Jesus answered; “You must love God with all your might; this is the first and most important commandment. The second greatest commandment is that you should love your neighbour as yourself. All the other rules are based on these two commandments.” Jesus was making a significant change in linking these two commandments together as one and inseparable. While we cannot love God without loving others, we also cannot love others just for God’s sake or to please God or observe a commandment. We are called to find and love God IN others. Jesus taught us to treat all with love and respect.

This week at Holy Spirit we value service. Service is giving to others, or to a larger purpose, or to life. You serve with a giving attitude, without selfishness and self-interest. The attitude and virtue of service is motivated by love, caring and goodwill. It is when we have an unselfish desire to help others or to help in a larger purpose. This week we pray for our students and family members to continue their kind acts towards others to have a positive influence on those around them. One kind act is to support our Socktober Day this Friday and make a gold coin donation that will go to Catholic Mission.

SOCKTOBER DAY: This Friday, 23 rd October we will have a casual day where students can use their imagination to make crazy accessories using socks so their outfits are fashionably chic. A reminder that outfits should be sun smart and footwear suitable for playing in the playgrounds. If students are in casual clothes they must bring a gold coin which will go to Catholic Children’s Mission.

God bless.
