From the Principal's Chair

WOW!  What a fantastic start we have had to begin Term 4. The Qld Fire brigade

principal

visited Year 1, we have had Prep Vision Testing for Prep, Tropical Friday for Catholic Missions, C.A.F.E and Board Meetings with our parent body, and now we celebrate our love of books. Our Library has been promoting our “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds” theme with photos with favourite books, treasure hunts, craft activities, staff reading their favourite books during lunch times and obviously our dress up as a favourite book character. Thank you to the many parents who spend time with their children promoting their love of reading. I hope you get a chance to sit and read during Book Week.

This week, an email was sent to families around what Term 4 looks like for our key events. It is great to be able to provide so many activities for our students but equally important that we can involve our families in some of these. Much discussion was had with the Public Health Unit to ensure we comply with current restrictions and how we can provide a safe environment for our families. At last week’s Principal’s Meetings, there were many discussions around how schools were adjusting to restrictions and how their modified events were taking shape. Obviously, the size of the schools, traditions and cleaning protocols were factors in how each school could manage such events. We are proud of the fact that our Rite of Passage for our departing Year 6 can still go ahead in a similar fashion. Many schools have moved to an in school assembly with 1 parent invited. We are blessed to have such a wonderful Hall and caring staff to form a plan to keep our tradition alive.

Thank you also to the many families for completing the RADII survey last term. Information gathered  from parents, students and staff help to guide our planning for the future of Holy Spirit Catholic School. We take on board the positives so we can continue to do these well and the constructive feedback to keep us improving. We appreciate that time is valuable and know that people have taken the time to give feedback. Feedback over recent years has guided some of the decisions that the Leadership Team have made for the continual improvements in our school.

Looking forward to celebrating Socktober on Friday and NAIDOC next week.

Happy Days

Paul Martin
