From the Principal's Chair

Welcome to the start of what is to be a blockbusting term at Holy Spirit.  As Queensland revises the Roadmap to Recovery from this ‘bug’, we continue to plan to see how we can continue with planned events and follow the guidelines set down by both Qld Public Health and from the Catholic Education Office. Our Holy Spirit community continues to amaze me at how supportive they are of staff, students and other families in such trying times. Thank you awesome people!

You may have noticed that the admin office is now located in Bibi Goo Yumba near the Library. We are nearing the start date for the next exciting stage of our building project. As a Year 4 boy explained to me yesterday, “ When this is done Mr Martin, we are going to have the best school in Queensland.” I totally agree. The next stage will see our administration block extended out onto the basketball court with a new front entry.

This will commence in the next 2 weeks and will impact the Hatchett Street pick up zone. To assist both at this area and with the Church car park, can you please have the family name on a piece of card/paper in the windscreen or on the visor so that students can be called and be ready and waiting in the pick up zone. The Main Roads department has also asked and we want to keep you safe as well, that we have no cars parked across driveways or waiting along Ross River Road. Thank you for assisting us to keep our families and students safe.

As was mentioned in a message to families on the week-end via Compass, Ms Geraldine Egelton is currently assisting with the care for her Mum as she has taken ill in recent weeks. Geraldine is hoping to be back in our community for the start of week 5. Please keep Geraldine and her family in your prayers.

During the holidays, Columba Catholic College in Charters Towers lost one of their students in a freak accident on a family property. We wish this school community our prayers as this young lady is laid to rest this week. Rest in Peace Mackenzie Guild.

Happy Days
