We are just over one week away from the Holy Spirit Fete!
While much of the behind the scene organisation has taken place, we are looking for convenors and workers for the stalls.
We understand parents are busy, so we are looking for just one hour of your time to assist with the Fete.
We are a well resourced school due to the generosity of current and past families who have helped to provide a wonderful legacy for our students, including our Low Ropes playground and this year’s addition of the Urban Warrior playground.
The Fete is a wonderful way to meet other parents and enjoy a great night out! Grandparents, older siblings, aunts and uncles are all welcomed as helpers.
Thank you to all who have sold dodgers and remember it’s not too late to bring in any unwanted items for Trash n Treasure.
Together let’s make our Fete great!
God Bless
Geraldine
In Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus said: ‘The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.’ In Jesus time, a good shepherd knew each one of his sheep and immediately was able to tell if any were in need. Jesus used this metaphor so the people would know that he knew and loved each one of them and that he would guide and look after them. We have to be prepared to listen and be open to Jesus’ message. Listening skills are so important in school life, to be able to follow a series of instructions to successfully carry out tasks. Sometimes we ask a child; did you listen? The response is generally a quick, yes! Maybe we should say instead; how did you listen, what actions will show me you were listening?
This week at Holy Spirit, we value consideration. Consideration is when we are being thoughtful of other people and their feelings. It may involve simply thinking about how our actions affect others. We can pay careful attention to what others like and don't like, and do things that give them happiness. This week we pray our students show consideration to those around them at school and at home. Let us take the time to talk to them and see if their words to others are kind and how they can make others have a better day.
Did you know that the Patroness of the Diocese of Townsville is Mary Help of Christians? Her Feast Day is the 24th of May. The Diocese will celebrate this day with a special Mass and Dinner under the Stars at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, commencing at 6pm. After Mass join with Bishop Tim in the Cathedral forecourt for a diocesan Dinner, including entertainment, and be part of this wonderful diocesan celebration.
God bless.

Wear Orange Wednesday (WOWDay)
The purpose of the WOW Day campaign is to inspire people to wear orange on 22 May in recognition of the efforts of thousands of SES volunteers across Australia who give up their time to serve their communities in floods, storms and other emergencies.
WOWDay will be recognised nationally on 22 May this year with the simple call to action: wear orange. Orange is the official colour of the State Emergency Services across the country so wearing orange on WOW Day is a great way to show support for all SES Volunteers.
